Elaine Lindsay Interviewed by Judy Croon

Judy: Elaine, you come back from this great conference in Dallas and you are completely blown away by one speaker in particular. Please tell me who this person was!

Elaine: Lisa Nichols.

Lisa Nichols|Speaker|author| teen mentor

Most people know her from the secret. She was one of a group of people that was in the book The Secret and the DVD ‘The Secret’. She is the one person that people seem to remember. She is the one that really touched Oprah and it was a mutual connection. Her site is Motivating the Masses.

I was at the #ewnconf and after two seconds of Lisa Nichols being on stage. I could absolutely see why.

She is this incredible Dynamo who reaches out to everybody in the room – it doesn’t matter whether it’s ten people, a thousand people in the room or ten thousand people in the room, Lisa has this larger than life reach that just touches everybody as if she is there with you alone. She’s a very seasoned speaker who really understands how to motivate people …how to be inspirational but more importantly, she is a transformational speaker that leaves you just that little bit better.

I was absolutely flat on my ass after spending time with her. We were supposed to be with her for two and a half hours. By the end when she was still talking to small groups, we’d been with her for almost five hours.

Every five minutes, during her totally content rich speak, there was yet another big AHA moment that she laid on us. People were scribbling notes, and nodding and the room was electric: The key ‘OMG’ for me, was the following; the four types of speakers.

A lot of people don’t even realize there are 4 distinct types.. There is informational, motivational, inspirational and transformational and in order to get there, to truly be a transformational speaker, you have to come through them all from the beginning. There are tremendous informational speakers, and they will perhaps stay as such. Same with motivational and Inspirational. Only a very few will attain the pinnacle of transformational speaker. I believe Lisa Nichols is there at the top.

Lots of speakers bureaus and lots of different speakers teach the same sorts of things that’s true. They don’t give of themselves the way she did.

Each and every person in that room, and those she spoke with one on one; she left them with something more.

In a couple of instances, she would take people’s tag lines and in a matter of seconds, tweak them until they were absolutely incredible.

For instance: We had had a surprise guest at the #ewnconf, a new breed of artist and speaker, who’s a spoken word poet. His name is Sekou Andrews and he was incredible. He does his keynotes geared to the corporation or group specifically, for this spectacular bevy of entrepreneurial women, his speech ended with each of us looking into a virtual mirror and declaring to ourselves, loudly “YOU ARE AWESOME”.

He too needed some help and she brought him into this room of people looking for answers on how to be a better speaker. How to get started ..how to step up …and really go far with your message.

The most interesting thing at the end of everything she gave us, she told us that she loves what she does …she loves sharing with people. She gave us all these acronyms that we can use to become better speakers.

She says don’t get up to speak with anything to defend, anything to hide, pretend or protect.

All of these things were fabulous, and with her were a number of women, a select group that she works with for a year and she calls them her Global Leaders.Lisa Nichols\Global Leadership Program They’re all very accomplished women who already have businesses yet they want to take it to the next level.

Each and every one of them is committed to serve.

The bottom line for Lisa Nichols is that we all need to serve.

She talked about where her heart lies and her heart’s work is actually with teens.

So all of this stuff that she gave us; this whole speak was phenomenal; just for us.

At the very end she stopped to talk about what was in her heart, her true passion. Her passion is to reach out and help teens beat suicide and to date they have saved 3500 or more teens from committing suicide.

This dynamic, inspirational, motivational speaker was herself transformed before us.

To all of us in that room; seeing her raw open heart, so committed …every one of us hundred or so people that were there… would have followed her into the depths of hell in that moment. She showed us the power of a transformational speaker,

She laid everything out there. She did not leave an ounce of herself unopened. It was obvious not just to me, but everybody in that room came away from Lisa Nichols, wanting to give that little bit more OR that BIG bit more we wanted to BE MORE…

In my experience, I received so much additional value, I am already putting her techniques into play. I will definitely continue to do so for the foreseeable future. Thank You Lisa Nichols.
